Ron Wilson, Photographer
Ron has been an avid photographer his entire life. “Capturing the essence of a scene, a moment, or a feeling is what motivates me.” He is attracted to many diverse subjects for his photography - people, Amish life, dancers, cowboys, family, nature, flowers, animals, travel, scenery, landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, architecture, and photojournalism. “If I have a weakness, it is that I try to cover too many areas and am spread too thin. I would get bored doing the same thing all the time.” He is always looking for new subjects and trying new techniques.
About 20 years ago he began to share his knowledge and experience by teaching photography. His classes have been at the Cleveland Photographic Society, Mayfield Schools, Parma Schools and Cuyahoga Community College. He continues to help others with the basic fundamentals of photography and the digital process of improving photos in the computer. “I get great personal satisfaction from helping others.”
Ron has been “digital” for the last six years. “I love digital! The instant feedback changes everything. Aside from instant gratification, it allows the photographer to learn more quickly, frees one from the economic restraints of film, encourages experimentation, and stimulates creativity.”
On a part time basis, Ron does professional work. He shoots weddings, stock photography for publications, assignments for commercial clients, events, and portraits.
His publication credits include: National Geographic Traveler, Audubon, Readers’ Digest, and Country Magazine.
His commercial clients include Ryan Homes, Chemtron, KAS Interiors, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, and Case Western Reserve University.
